Building a Future: Your Career at Webster Industries

May 20, 2024

Step into a world where innovation meets opportunity.

At Webster Industries, we're shaping the present and the future with our innovative approach to manufacturing. For over 140 years, we've been at the forefront of serving the engineered class chain, sprockets, and vibrating equipment markets, and now, we're inviting you to be a part of our journey.

“We’re currently looking to fill two shop supervisor positions — one for second shift and the other for third shift,” says Jeremy Hohenstein, our new Human Resources Manager. “We’re also looking for a state-certified tool and die maker as well as a material handler — both for second shift. With all of these openings, prior experience is preferred, but we’re able to train.”

Wondering what kind of workplace you will discover if you accept a position here?

“When most people think of manufacturing, they instantly think of a factory,” he says. “Webster Industries is a skilled trades manufacturing plant, which makes products that move the economy.”

If the positions Hohenstein has already mentioned are not in your wheelhouse, that’s okay — other employment opportunities remain.

“We’re always looking for qualified welders and machinists,” Hohenstein says. “Other than skills in the trades, we’re looking for mechanically inclined applicants who have a willingness to learn and an eagerness to hone their skills.”

But it takes more than skilled workers to keep things moving forward.

“We have a set of core values that we expect all of our employees to embody,” he explains. “They are ‘Can Do Approach,’ ‘Always Do What’s Right,’ ‘Respect Others,’ and ‘Everyday Grit.’ Applicants who embody these core values are who we’re looking for.”

When applicants like these come along and become part of the Webster Industries family, a world of opportunities awaits them.

“All of our employment opportunities are opened internally first so current employees can apply before external applicants,” Hohenstein says. “Employees can move up and take on more responsibilities.”

One employee’s story in particular embodies the potential for upward mobility at Webster Industries.

“We always talk to our new hires about the path that Dean Bogner took,” he says. “Dean started on the shop floor, continued his education through Webster Industries to earn a Business Degree, transitioned into a sales role, and is now our Executive Vice President. The best part is, this isn’t an isolated incident. We have many employees whose stories are similar to Dean’s — where Webster has helped them to achieve their goals.”

To help our employees realize their potential, we emphasize the importance of employee development and training. With tuition reimbursement opportunities and journeymen and apprenticeship programs, we equip our employees to explore what they are capable of and how they can contribute to our company's success.

This freedom to branch out also frees our employees to think for themselves on the job.

“Our customers need to move their products from point A to point B, and we provide the best solutions to help them achieve that,” Hohenstein says. “Employees are empowered to improve processes and take ownership of their roles. They’re motivated to seek out solutions rather than simply identify obstacles — and that results in innovative solutions and employee satisfaction, too.”

Hohenstein’s journey to his new job reflects the way Webster Industries employees rise through the ranks to embrace promising futures for themselves.

He joined the company as an intern in 2022 while completing his bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management at Tiffin University. Since then, he’s graduated and been promoted twice, first becoming a recruiter, and then stepping into his current role in December of 2023.

“My path to this position would have been impossible without the support of my family and my team here at Webster,” he says. “I’m surrounded by the best, and they challenge me to be the best version of myself day in and day out.”

What does he like most about his newest role?

“I know it’s a very HR answer, but the best part of my work is the people I’m able to serve and impact. Most of what I do directly impacts our great employees, and I take that responsibility very seriously. This position gives me a front-row seat to our employees' lives, and it’s very rewarding to serve them in a multitude of ways.”

With Jeremy Hohenstein at the helm in Human Resources, and employees invited to innovate and realize their potential, it’s onward and upward for anyone who joins the Webster Industries workforce.
