“Press” Ahead in Your Career: Webster Job Opportunities

December 13, 2023

No one likes to feel overlooked, taken advantage of, or held back in their job.

No one likes to worry, season in and season out, if their job is going to be around after another round of layoffs.

Even though you might tolerate a negative work environment because that’s what you’ve known, there are actually positive places to work, places that take pride in their employees and value your hard work.

That’s the kind of culture we’ve aimed to develop here at Webster. Our crews get the respect they deserve for the hard work they invest into Webster’s products, and beyond that, we work to provide our employees with opportunities to advance and grow into new roles with higher earning potential.

Right now, we’re looking for more punch press operators, mechanically minded folks who understand the need for precision and attention to detail in the operation of machinery.

What Is a Press Operator?

There’s a lot more to being a press operator than just standing around and pushing buttons or running metal through a press. The punch press cuts, shapes, and forms metals and requires precision and mechanical knowledge to make sure the press performs the process correctly.

When you join the Webster team, you will be trained on day shift with a designated trainer, a member of the leadership team that has been singled out to work with newer employees so that you can quickly feel confident in your work and become part of the team.

Once you know what you’re doing on the punch press, Webster provides comprehensive SOP and detailed instructions for you to set up the presses and perform each job.

Lot's of Room to Grow -- And Earn

The starting pay for someone with no experience whatsoever in this job is $17.50, which is one of the highest in this department. Base pay for each person is determined after you’ve completed a mechanical aptitude test.

If you are already a self-described “gear head,” you’re likely to progress rapidly through our training, which means that you’ll also move up the ladder quickly and increase your base pay faster.

Most of our new press operators begin at a B classification and then work up to a higher level. Pressman B operators start by running 50% of the equipment. Pressman A operators are able to run all of the equipment and train people. These folks serve as group leaders or are on their way to other leadership positions at Webster.

Join the Webster Team, and Step Into a Different Manufacturing World

You have goals for yourself and your life, and we want to do what we can to make those goals a reality. We pride ourselves on developing a strong team atmosphere that builds up each team member. That means building camaraderie in each department.

Friends at work? Colleagues who respect you? This shouldn’t be the exception to the rule. Come experience the Webster difference.

Apply today to become part of the Webster team of press operators.
